Sansevero Chapel
If you are in Naples you will find many sights, one of the highlights in the historic center is the beautiful chapel Cappella Sansevero of the Prince of Sansevero, Raimondo di Sangro. You will see that here are some of the most beautiful marble statues in the world. Cappella Sansevero is located in the heart of the old town of Naples. The chapel was built in honor of Santa Maria della Pietá, who can be seen on the medallion above the front door. It is unfortunately forbidden to take pictures in the beautiful family chapel, but in the video below you can get an impression of the small, but beautiful Chapel of the Princes of Naples.
The Veiled Christ and treasures of Cappella Sansevero
When you take your first steps into the Cappella Sansevero di Napoli, the statues and paintings will make an immediate impression. The most popular images are The Deliverance from Deceit, The Veiled Christ and The Veiled Truth. These images make this museum one of the most famous in Naples. In total you will find 28 masterpieces in the chapel, one of which is even more beautiful than the other. The great artists Corradini and San Martino made the statues in the 18th century. A veil over the faces is like a real veil of cloth, almost indistinguishable. The 18th century saw some highly skilled sculptors who created masterpieces that we can still enjoy today.
